Daniel Armitage

Surreal tattoo Artist est.2015

Ever since seeing my uncle’s old military tattoo as a kid, I knew tattooing was what I wanted to do. I loved realism, but at the time I didn’t even know that level of art was possible on skin.

After being discouraged from pursuing art professionally, I chose what seemed like the safer path, studying renewable energy and starting a solar installation company. But everything changed when I discovered Sullen TV. Watching artists like Alex DePase, Steve Butcher, Boris and Yomico Moreno showed me that the level of realism I dreamed about actually existed.

In that moment I knew I had to follow my original calling—or I’d always wonder what could have been.

The Standard I Wanted to Chase

The world’s best hyper realism artists set the standard I wanted to chase from the very beginning.

Since then I’ve invested more than $90,000 into my own education, spending over 266 hours being tattooed by many of the industry’s leading artists, attending seminars, mentorships and dedicating thousands of hours to practice.

Life eventually came full circle when Sullen TV—the platform that inspired me to become a tattoo artist—featured me in a Portfolio Peek only four years into my career. Since then I’ve also been featured in Inked Magazine YouTube video and have been fortunate to earn awards including Best of Show, Best of Day and Best Large Colour.

Every milestone reminds me how much there still is to learn. That’s what I love most about this career.

Self Discovery & Growth

As I’ve evolved as a person, so has my work, hyper-realism was my initial focus, then in time with self discovery and growth I started focusing on translating the visuals I see in my minds eye through meditation into my art style bringing my hyper realistic fundamentals into a more surreal style, blending realism with symbolism and geometry to uniquely portray your theme.

Rather than recreating a photograph, now I create original compositions that tell your story, flow with your body making them bold and readable from across the room. Saturated fully, with the right detail to and contrast last the test of time.

What’s your Story?

Our bodies are our temples. Just as temples have long been adorned with art that tells the stories of those within them, I believe your body can become a living expression of your own journey.

Let’s adorn your temple with artwork that tells your story.
